Guide to Disposable Vapes

In this comprehensive guide, we'll dip into the mechanics, flavors, and everything you need to know about how disposable vapes work.

What Is A Disposable Vape?

These days, you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to vaping no matter whether you’re an experienced practitioner or a brand new, first time user. E-cigarettes were of course designed to offer a safer alternative to smoking and the disposable kit was created to be as comparable to that cigarette-like experience. Unlike more advanced kits, disposable kits have no buttons, you don’t need to recharge them and they offer a super restricted inhale too.

Typically, they’ll have a nic salt formulation to give you that stronger nicotine hit you’d be used to with a conventional cigarette while still delivering a smooth inhale. Making the switch to vaping can be a challenge. There’s often a lot of new settings, buttons and moving parts which can make an e-cigarette a little more intimidating for someone who just wants to try vaping out. Disposable kits were designed to remove all those extra settings and maintenance requirements to make things as simple as possible. Each one typically delivers as many puffs as you’d get from a 20 pack of cigarettes though they vary a little depending on how big their battery is and how much vape juice they hold. Which brings us to the next question:

Anatomy of a disposable vape

Let's start by unpacking the basics of disposable vaping. These sleek devices come pre-filled with e-liquid and are designed for single use, with no need to recharge or refill. It's the ultimate hassle-free vaping experience.

Battery

Typically, disposable vapes contain a built-in battery. It's the powerhouse of the disposable vape, responsible for heating the e-liquid and producing the vapour.

E-liquid or vape juice

This is where the magic happens. The e-liquid stored in a reservoir is a mixture of propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerin (VG), nicotine (optional) and flavourings.

Atomiser or coil

The heating element, often referred to as the atomiser or coil, is responsible for converting the liquid into vapour when activated by the battery. Uniquely, Memers Vape uses a mesh coil for this heating process.

Wick

The wick is usually made of cotton and is in direct contact with the heating element. It absorbs the e-liquid and ensures a consistent supply to the coil for vaporization.

Airflow

This airflow system regulates the amount of air mixed with vapor, affecting the draw resistance and allowing vapers to inhale.

Mouthpiece

The gateway to flavor. The mouthpiece is the part that users inhale from, savoring the delectable notes of your chosen e-liquid, typically designed for comfort and ease of use.

LED Indicator (Optional)

An LED indicator may be present to show the disposable vape device's status, such as battery level or activation during inhalation.

Disposable Cap (Optional)

Some disposable vapes may come with a protective cap that covers the mouthpiece. The cap helps maintain hygiene and prevents debris or lint from contaminating the mouthpiece.

Charging Port (Non-Disposable or Rechargeable Models)

In some cases, disposable vapes may have a USB charging port for non-disposable or rechargeable models. However, the disposable nature of most vape devices means they are discarded when the battery is depleted.

Disposable vapes are designed for single use and are pre-filled with e-liquid, eliminating the need for maintenance or refilling. The simplicity of their design makes them convenient for users who prefer a hassle-free vaping experience.

How Do Disposable Vapes Work?

Disposable vapes are made from three key parts - the battery, the pod and the coil. The battery is typically within the realm of 400mAh - 750mAh which is the unit of measurement that dictates how much charge they hold. They’ll give you at least as many puffs as it takes to use up the e-liquid and thanks to a little chipset inside are activated when you inhale on the mouthpiece. With no buttons to press you don’t need to worry about switching them on or off, nor will they accidentally get activated when they’re in your pocket either. Most disposable vapes will offer you anywhere between 400 and 700 puffs depending on the size of the pod and the battery in the kit.

Disposable vapes come with a prefilled, closed system pod that has a high resistance coil which is what gives you that restricted, cigarette like draw. The coil is made of a heating element that’s wrapped with cotton which serves to absorb the e-liquid in the pod. When you inhale, the battery heats the metal which in turn evaporates the vape juice in the cotton wicking material - giving you a flavourful little vape cloud.

Why Should I Use A Disposable Vape?

There’s a few reasons you might choose a disposable vape kit over a more conventional refillable option. The first and most obvious reason is that you’re a brand new vaper and you just want something easy to use that’ll give you a good nicotine hit to alleviate cravings. These kits really are designed for simplicity - with no need to top up juice levels, change pods or coils or recharge them, they have one job only and that’s to help you make the switch to vaping. With their higher nicotine levels and mouth to lung inhale that’s comparable to smoking, disposable kits are a great choice when you’re just starting out.

You may also be a vaper of convenience. Some people have a refillable device they normally use at home but if you’re out and about (or even prone to losing things on a night out) disposable vape kits are a great option for you too. They’re small enough to slip in your pocket and also mean you don’t need to take any bottles of vape juice with you either. Another added bonus is they’re affordable enough that if you did lose your disposable vape, it’s not expensive to replace. They’re also especially ideal for social smokers who tend to only have a few on the weekend and are trying to curb the habit.
